Hepburn and Sons LLC and its teammates were recently selected for award for two National Shipbuilding Research Program (NSRP) Panel Projects. These projects are targeted towards making our U.S. Navy ships more efficient, last longer in the harsh saltwater environment, and better survive major fires onboard ship.
The first project will test and analyze anti-biofouling coatings developed by BIOINTERPHASE, Scale Materials, and Coval Technologies, after immersion and exposure to seawater in a warm, highly organic, seawater environment.
The second project will focus on the testing and verification of an intumescent coating, developed by STI Marine, that provides fire protection for shipboard electric cables.
